Experience:

Dr. Asher Burns (they/them) enjoys serving as an Inclusive Media and Universal Design for Learning Specialist. Dr. Burns previously worked in disability services offices at various higher education institutions, advocating for full inclusion of disabled college students in classes, housing, and extracurricular activities. As a practitioner-scholar, they love working with faculty members to provide proactive access to courses. Dr. Burns’ research on sense of belonging among disabled college students with additional marginalized identities serves as a catalyst for promoting inclusive learning environments.

Professional Interests:

Dr. Burns enjoys teaching courses about disabilities, ableism, and inclusion of disabled people in education, employment, and society. Dr. Burns is a member of the Society for Disability Studies (SDS), American College Personnel Association (ACPA), and the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD).
