News
The ChatGPT Edu pilot is planned for launch the week of January 13, 2025.
About the Pilot
This pilot provides access to a conversational generative AI (Gen AI) interface to up to 500 full-time university employees and graduate assistants selected for the pilot. The pilot is focused on spring 2025, but participants will receive access to ChatGPT Edu for the 2025 calendar year. There is no promise of continued access after 2025.
We will collect pilot participants’ feedback to make recommendations to university leadership as they determine Virginia Tech’s future approach to and investment in Gen AI. User testing, data collection, and recommendations to university leadership are expected to align with the 2025 spring semester.
Benefits
Access: Pilot participants will receive access to ChatGPT Edu for the 2025 calendar year (a $240 value). ChatGPT Edu offers technical and administrative features similar to ChatGPT Enterprise, with larger context windows and faster response times than the free version of ChatGPT.
Training & Support: Pilot participants will receive training on ChatGPT functionality and responsible uses of Gen AI, as well as technical support during spring 2025.
Requirements
Feedback: Pilot participants will be required to complete feedback surveys and should be willing to participate in other activities, including interviews, usability studies, and focus groups.
Training & Security: Pilot participants must complete the mandatory training and adhere to ChatGPT Edu responsible usage and security guidelines.
