Experience:

Prior to coming to Virginia Tech in 2017, Mark spent 15 years within Loudoun County Public Schools supervising Assistive Technology services and building a culture of proactive design and innovation. Mark also worked for Assistive Technology Works providing a diverse array of consultations, trainings, and installations of software and hardware technologies across consumer and institutional environments.

Awards, Honors and Certifications:

IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies. 

Professional Interests:

Mark is an active member of the National Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) Center Advisory Committee, Chair of the Virginia Higher Education Accessibility Partners (VHEAP), and Secretary/Treasurer of the UDL Higher Education Leadership Team. Mark has a special interest in the maker movement and connections to the field of Assistive Technology.

Personal Interests:

Mark is a Scoutmaster with a Blacksburg scout troop and enjoys a variety of outdoor sports and recreational adventures with his family. The scout motto "Be Prepared" is a vital component of both professional and personal endeavors. Other interests include photography, music, automotive adventures, gardening, traveling to islands, and managing day-to-day responsibilities on the family hobby-farm.
