Started in Assistive Technologies (now Accessible Technologies) in 2006 as a student employee demonstrating, testing and deploying assistive technology for students and employees with disabilities. In 2010 transitioned into a graduate research assistant role transcribing STEM course materials into Braille and tactile graphics. In 2017 moved into a full time role in Accessible Technologies creating accessible educational materials (closed captions, Braille, image descriptions, etc) and teaching instructors how to do so as well. Added teaching to the mix in 2020 by leading the Certified Accessibility Professionals in Core Competencies preparation course-- part of the Accessible Technologies Accessibility Professionals Certification Grant program.

Preparing the Future Professoriate Certificate (2012), IAAP CPACC Certification (2019), Access and Inclusion Awards Awardee (2017, 2020 & 2021)
As a member of the Access Technology Higher Education Network (ATHEN), Christa regularly shares her expertise at the Accessing Higher Ground conference. She also contributes to the Virginia disability community by serving as the President of AHEAD in VA.
When not working, you will most likely find Christa reading a book (fantasy, cosy mystery or historical fiction). She also enjoys gardening, roller skating, swing dancing, and crafts. She lives in the area with her family (including three cats and two hamsters).
